What the app does, and where its limits are

A plain guide to recording activity, following plans and building a routine, with a clear account of what the app does not do.

What the app does, and where its limits are
Getting started

How a typical week with the app goes

Most people use the app in a simple loop: choose a plan, do the sessions, record them and look back. These three parts explain how each piece works in daily use.

Choose and set up

You begin by picking a goal and a plan that matches your level. A beginner might choose Run Your First 5K, while someone building strength might take Your Body, 8 Weeks. Each plan lays out its weekly sessions so you know what is coming before you start. You can also set small daily goals and reminders, which is how Build a Daily Habit works. Nothing here needs special equipment.

Do and record

For runs and rides, Track Every Run logs distance, pace and route while you move. For gym and bodyweight sessions, you follow the list of exercises in your plan and note that the session is done. Workouts That Fit Your Day offers sessions from 15 to 45 minutes, so a busy day still has a place for exercise. Keep your phone with you for outdoor tracking to get a full route.

Review and adjust

At the end of the week you can look back at what you completed and how your pace has moved. This is where Train Smarter, Not Harder is most useful, because hard sessions and rest days are balanced for you. If a week felt too much, repeat it. If it felt easy, carry on. The plan is a guide, and you stay in charge of the pace.

At a glance

What each capability covers

Each row below describes one part of the app, what it is meant for and what it does not try to do. The plans are guides for general fitness, written for adults building a routine.

Activity trackingTrack Every Run: distance, pace and route
Records distance, pace and route for each run or ride and lets you look back over your week. It relies on your phone's location, so a route is only as complete as the signal you had. It is a record of activity, not a medical measurement.
Beginner planRun Your First 5K: walk-run to a full 5K
A gentle guided plan that starts with short walk-run intervals and builds towards a full 5K. It suits people new to running. It does not promise a finish time, and you can repeat any week that felt too hard.
Balanced trainingTrain Smarter, Not Harder: hard days and rest days
Plans that balance hard sessions with rest days so fitness builds without burning out. The rest days are part of the schedule. The plans are general guidance and cannot adjust to an injury or a health condition.
Gym programmeYour Body, 8 Weeks: gym and bodyweight sessions
An eight-week programme with clear weekly sessions and progress check-ins, using gym and bodyweight exercises. It suits adults who want structure. It does not replace a trainer who can watch and correct your form in person.
Habit supportBuild a Daily Habit: small goals and reminders
Small daily goals and reminders that help turn exercise into a routine you can keep. Reminders depend on your phone's notification settings. The goals are deliberately small, so the habit comes before intensity.
Short sessionsWorkouts That Fit Your Day: 15 to 45 minutes
Short sessions you can do at home, in a gym or outdoors. They suit crowded schedules and small spaces. They are shorter than a full plan week, so they work best beside a plan, not instead of one.
Honest limits

What the app is, and what it is not

Strava is a fitness app made by an independent company in Mysuru. It helps you record runs and rides and follow guided plans. It is not a medical tool, and it is worth being clear about where it stops.

A guide, not a clinician

The plans are written by a certified running coach for adults who want to start or improve a routine. They are general guidance for fitness. They cannot know your medical history, and they do not diagnose or treat anything. If you feel pain, dizziness or anything unusual, stop and speak to a doctor before continuing with any plan.

Tracking depends on your phone

Recording uses your phone, so results depend on the handset and the signal. The app is built Android-first and aims to stay steady on everyday phones, but we do not promise perfect routes in every place. Tall buildings, dense tree cover and low battery can all affect a record.

Free and paid tiers

A free tier covers the basics, and a paid subscription opens the full plan catalogue and features. Features that sit in the paid tier are described on the Prices page. Nothing on this site lets you sign in, download or try the app, and the screens shown here are illustrations of the idea.

Support when you need it

If something is unclear, the contact page has a form that reaches our support team. Meera Nair leads support and answers questions about plans, billing and account help in plain, kind language. We would rather you ask than guess about a plan or a charge.
